COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will empower general education teachers with tools to help them support content and language learning with culturally and linguistically diverse students. Participants will be introduced to the English language proficiency standards, which offer ESOL teachers and general education teachers a common language for supporting English Learners. They will examine how these standards align to the college and career ready standards, ELA Practices, Math Practices, and NGSS Science Practices. They will learn a process that can be implemented in their PLCs to analyze tasks and student work, improve assessment, and scaffold instruction for ELs. Participants will practice applying these processes and strategies to classroom tasks. Finally, all participants will complete the learning activities and assessments to receive certification for the ELP Standards Modules through AEA PD Online.
