Target Audience: School staff who have been through the CPI: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training and who need to receive recertification.
To attend this training you MUST be within 1 year and 1 month of taking the full CPI certification. If you are past this timeline you MUST complete the full CPI certification. Participants are required to complete the 2-3 hour webinar prior to class. The content of the webinar covers nonphysical strategies, including nonverbal, paraverbal, and verbal techniques that can be used to assist in deescalating behavior. Class participants will review personal safety techniques, such as blocking, moving, and releasing, to avoid or minimize injury when interacting with an individual who is escalated. This training also includes, role-playing, practice, and feedback in the use of physical restraint strategies, transport techniques and team strategies to maintain safety when an individual engages in escalated behavior.
